3/29/11 extended text: Haute couture refers to custom-made, one-of-a-kind garments created for one individual. Couture fashions involve incredible detail to cut, construction - much of which is done by hand. Such unique fashions command high prices. Haute couture designs for the House of Chanel are presented through the company's premiere boutique located at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris. Today, over 160 Chanel boutiques are in operation around the globe. earlier extended text: Coco Chanel was renowned for her famous "Chanel Suit," which consist of a boxy jacket of fine wool with dark trim and buttons; paired with a matching knee-length skirt. The name Chanel is associated with elegance and wealthy clients who can afford haute couture designs.
