Rhodes began her career in 1966 as a designer of unique, printed textiles. Her fashions are genuinely individual, as she designs both the garment and the fabric from which it is made. She frequently uses delicate silk chiffon on which she handscreens her pattern designs. Rhodes considers herself an artist whose medium is clothing.
