With the revival of quilting in the 1920s and 1930s, thousands of quilt patterns were available through mail order catalogs, newspapers, and farm magazines. While the Lancaster County Amish did not often utilize these patterns, they may have used a small number of well-known patterns. For example, a number of Amish Basket quilts, such as this one, used the exact basket pattern included in the publications of the period. This pieced pattern had several names, including Cake Stand and Basket.
