Gift of Delhom Service League in honor of M. Mellanay Delhom

The transfer print "The Death of General Wolfe" is after the painting by Benjamin West, one of his best known and at the time most controversial works. West used modern dress rather than antique drapery to depict a contemporary historical event. The source print appears to be an engraving "The Death of General Wolfe" engraved by W. W. Woolett, published in 1776 by Woollett, Boydell and Ryland. The original picture was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1771.
